We respect your privacy. This policy explains the information EBingwa collects, how we use it, the protections we apply, and the choices you have when your school uses our free operating system.
1. Mobile App Permissions
Our Android app asks for specific permissions only when needed for a feature you choose to use.
android.permission.CAMERA
Purpose: Used only when a user chooses to capture an image or document directly from the app, for example profile images, uploads, and learning or admin workflows.
Clarification: The camera is not used silently in the background.android.permission.READ_MEDIA_IMAGES(Android 13+) /READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE(older Android)
Purpose: Lets users select existing images or files from device storage.android.permission.POST_NOTIFICATIONS
Purpose: Sends important school alerts, reminders, and updates.android.permission.INTERNET
Purpose: Enables secure communication with EBingwa backend services.android.permission.USE_BIOMETRIC
Purpose: Supports optional secure login/authentication where enabled.
Permissions are requested only when needed. You can deny or revoke permissions anytime in your device settings.
2. Data Collected via Camera/Images
When you use camera or gallery features, we may collect the images or documents you choose to capture or upload, along with basic technical metadata needed to process the file (for example file type, size, and upload time).
We collect this data to complete the task you requested, such as updating profile photos, attaching learning evidence, or submitting required school records.
3. How Data is Used
We use collected data to provide and improve EBingwa services, support school operations, protect account security, send service communications, and meet legal obligations.
Data from camera and image permissions is used only for user-initiated actions and related school workflows.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell personal data.
We may share data with trusted service providers that help us operate the platform (such as hosting and support), under contractual confidentiality and security obligations, or when required by law.
5. Data Retention
We retain personal data, including uploaded images/documents, only for as long as needed to provide services, maintain required school records, resolve disputes, and comply with legal obligations.
When data is no longer required, we delete it or de-identify it according to our retention and security practices.
6. User Rights and Controls
You can request access, correction, export, or deletion of personal data where applicable law allows. You can also manage or revoke app permissions in your device settings at any time.
For school-managed accounts, your school administrator may also control certain data and account settings.
